About the keynote speaker

Professor Olav Sorenson is currently the Fredrick Frank ’54 and Mary C. Tanner Professor of Management, and Professor of Sociology (by courtesy), at Yale University, where he teaches an elective on venture capital. His primary stream of research pertains to economic geography, focusing on how enterpreneruship influences the growth and competitiveness of regions within countries, and on why some regions have more successful entrepreneurs than others. In total, he has delivered more than 200 research presentations and has had more than 60 papers published in journals usch as the American Journal of Sociology, the American Sociological Review, the Review of Economics and Statistics, Administrative Science Quarterly, Management Science, the Strategic Management Journal and Research Policy.

Event Summary


Over 45 people attended the event, including entreprenueurs and business professionals. Prof Olav delivered a speech on 'Entrepreneurial Regions', followed by a panel discussion. The panelists were able to discuss and share their personal experiences on entrepreneurship and start-ups. The cocktail session after the event helped participants to network amongst themselves, as well as to speak to the academic and industry experts at the event.
