Mr Teo Eng Cheong (Member)
Chief Executive Officer, International Enterprise Singapore
Mr Teo Eng Cheong was appointed Chief Executive Officer of International Enterprise (IE) Singapore effective 1 January 2011. As the government agency driving Singapore's external economy, IE Singapore spearheads the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and promotes international trade.
Prior to joining IE Singapore, Mr Teo was the Chief Executive of the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) from 2008 to 2010. As the Director-General of Singapore Customs from 2004 to 2007, Mr Teo launched several initiatives to maintain Singapore's position as a trusted trade hub. During the course of his career, Mr Teo also served at the Economic Development Board, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and the then Ministry of Community Development and Sports. He also sits on the boards of IE Singapore Holdings Pte Ltd, Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority, Ascendas Funds Management (S) Limited, the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and the Council for Private Education.
Mr Teo graduated from the National University of Singapore with an Honours degree in Economics and holds a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2006, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver).
