Dr Lawrence Loh
Director

Dr Lawrence Loh is Director, Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) at the NUS Business School, National University of Singapore. He is also Deputy Head and Associate Professor of Strategy and Policy at the School.

At CGIO, Dr Loh leads the new Singapore Governance and Transparency Index project in collaboration with CPA Australia, Singapore Institute of Directors and The Business Times. He also heads the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard project conducted together with the Singapore Institute of Directors. Dr Loh oversees the joint Business Integrity and Sustainability Reporting initiatives with the ASEAN CSR Network.

Dr Loh received a PhD in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had served in key leadership positions in universities and alliances across Asia Pacific and Middle East. Dr Loh has been appointed in government committees and think-tanks in education, information communications, and science and technology. He was lead consultant on information and technology policy studies for various government agencies. Dr Loh also consulted for Fortune 500 companies and international organizations in the areas of quality management and technology strategy.

Dr Loh has published in international journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research and Journal of Management Information Systems, and has co-authored a book entitled "The Quest for Global Quality: A Manifestation of Total Quality Management by Singapore Airlines" published by Addison-Wesley.

Dr Loh is a regular commentator on corporate governance and sustainability for the global and Singapore media, such as BBC, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, The Business Times, The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia. At NUS, Dr Loh teaches strategic management and corporate governance for undergraduate, graduate and executive programs.


RESEARCH TEAM

Mr Muhammad Ibrahim
Senior Research Analyst 

Muhammad Ibrahim graduated from National University of Singapore with a Bachelor in Business Administration (Accountancy) and he is a Chartered Accountant (CA), Singapore.. At CGIO, he works with faculty members on various applied research projects related to corporate governance and family businesses.

Prior to joining CGIO, while at university, he gained internship experiences in audit and individual income tax. His research-related interests include corporate governance, corporate finance, sustainability and family businesses, particularly in the Southeast Asian context. 

Ms Wang Yu
Research Associate

Wang Yu graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a Master degree in Applied Economics. She has a Bachelor degree in Financial Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Her experiences as an inventory controller equip her with various reporting, analysing and interpersonal skills.

At CGIO, she works with faculty members with various projects related to corporate governance and supervises student assistants. Her research interests include corporate governance and family business.

Ms Linh Thuy Nguyen  
Research Analyst

Linh Nguyen graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor degree in Economics. She brings with her diverse working experience from a private consulting firm based in Hanoi, Vietnam and Yangon, Myanmar, as well as local NGOs from the U.S. and Australia.

Linh has since acquired valuable experience and skills in writing reports, project coordination and business development. Her research interests include Asian family businesses, corporate governance, environmental management and sustainable business.

Ms Mai Huong Nguyen
Research Analyst

Huong Nguyen graduated from Murdoch University and Republic Polytechnic with a Bachelor degree in Psychology (majoring in Organizational Psychology) and a diploma in Business Applications respectively. Before joining CGIO, she accumulated extensive work experience in the banking and finance sector.

At CGIO, Huong collaborates with faculty members on applied corporate governance research projects. Her research interests include social enterprises, organizational psychology and corporate governance. She enjoys painting, badminton and dragon boating in her free time.


ADMIN TEAM

Ms Verity Thoi
Centre Manager

Verity Thoi graduated from National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences and completed a Bachelor of Psychology Degree (Honours) at James Cook University. Prior to joining NUS Business School, she was cabin crew supervisor with British Airways (BA). She has held the position of Chairman of BA Cabin Crew Union. She also has experience as a journalist at People's Association.

Verity enjoys the challenges her current role entails and has taken on the responsibility as Chairman of Business School Social Committee. She enjoys interacting and socialising with people from all walks of life, organising events and embarking on new work experiences to widen her horizon.

Ms Jamilah Ramli
Management Assistant Officer

Jamilah has been with NUS since 2000. Prior to joining NUS, she worked in the banking sector dealing with customers at the front line. In addition, Jamilah spent seven years dealing with finance matters at an established hotel in Singapore. She loves going to the movies in her free time, and she enjoys cooking and baking.
