An Exploration of the Methods and Criteria used by Impact Investors and Philanthropists in Asia

This study explores how social investors in Asia assess the social impact of their investments. Relying on publicly disclosed data from a sample of 77 impact investors and foundations operating in Asia, it was found that neither foundations nor impact investment funds measure the actual impact of social enterprises with adequate methodologies. Most of them report on the social performance of their grantees, but focus mainly on results on output level.
