The Saw Centre for Quantitative Finance (SCQF) is a university-level Centre at the National University of Singapore. Its mission is to foster the pursuit of knowledge and development of human capital through cutting-edge research and education. Our research focuses on the quantitative aspects of finance which are of strategic importance to the finance industry.
We invite applications for the following appointments:
A. Deputy Director
This appointment is for a new position in the Saw Centre for Quantitative Finance. The Deputy Director will assist the Centre Director in strategic planning and the development of the newly elevated Saw Centre, especially in handling collaborations with both internal and external parties.
Responsibilities
• Assist Director in all strategic planning and developments of the Centre
• Provide strong leadership in establishing strategic alliances with financial institutions and universities in Singapore and overseas
• Promote and advance research and development that are relevant and useful to the finance industry
•. Organize and run educational and training courses for professional and potential quants
• Assist in other projects as directed by the Centre Director
Requirements
• PhD or M.Sc. Degree in a related field
• Prior management experience in the financial industry and/or in an educational institution
• Strong analytical, quantitative, organisation and conceptual skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
B. Senior Manager/Manager
Responsibilities
• Assist Centre Director in all strategic planning and development of the Centre, as well as assist in collaborations with both internal and external parties
• Assist Centre Director in administering the M.Sc. Quantitative Finance Programme
• Plan and oversee the overall operation of the Centre and ensure the availability of adequate facilities and resources it requires to function effectively
• Take charge of the annual budget and accounts and ensure adequate funding for the Centre
• Provide secretarial support to the Management Committee’s meetings
• Prepare reports and oversee webpage design and editing
• Liaise with speakers and collaborators for various research and educational activities
• Oversee the publication programme with the view of promoting research and education in finance and other activities of the Centre
• Manage 2-3 direct reports
Requirements
• 10 -15 years of work experience
• At least an Honours Degree
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
• Strong initiative and drive and a sense of commitment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office

C. Research Fellow/Research Assistant
Responsibilities
• Participate in the research activities of the Centre leading to the publication of papers or books
• Help organise conferences for academics and industry professionals.
• Prepare SCQF publications
Requirements
• Master’s or PhD Degree (for RF) and at least a B.Sc., Class 2A Hons (for RA) in a quantitative subject, such as Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics and Theoretical Physics, as well as knowledge in finance
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Programming knowledge and skills will be an advantage
