The department was established as the Division of Business Policy in the School of Management in 1983. Subsequently, in 1988, the School was organized into five departments and the division was established as the Department of Business Policy. We focus on the fields of strategy, international business, economics, and business law. With faculty members from different backgrounds, our department brings a multi- disciplinary perspective to the three pillars of the university mission -- research, teaching, and service.
Faculty members have published major books and in leading international academic journals, such as Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, American Economic Review, and the Journal of Political Economy.

We serve the academic community, university, and nation. In December 2010, the Court of Appeal cited a paper co-authored by our colleague, Susanna Leong, “The Right of Communication in Singapore” (2010) 22 SAcLJ 602, in their judgment of the landmark case, RecordTV Pte Ltd v MediaCorp TV Singapore Pte Ltd.
